It was with sadness to note the recent passing on 11 January 2020 of a long-term Christchurch Savage Club Orchestral member Pam McLean.
Pam was an accomplished Viola player and her contribution to the Christchurch
Savage Club included as an elected Orchestra representative on the council.

Members of the Christchurch Savage Club attended this annual event, Savages Maureen Watkins, Jess Mellish, Gary Watts, Lilian and Connie van Elk,
As usual and similar to previous Southern Group’s Get Togethers the hospitality
was great. Also, the organising of this was truly superb.
The Southern Group’s meeting in the afternoon commenced with reports from the eight attending clubs. This included an unfortunate outlining of the many members whom had passed away
over the last two years.
Re-elected as Southern Group’s Chairperson; Savage Mr Ian Buckingham and Savage Mr Brian Wilson as Secretary. Both members of The Waimate Savage Club.
A delicious meal on Saturday night was served followed
by excellent entertainment by all attending clubs. Christchurch Savages Jess Mellish, Maureen Watkins, Gary Watts fully participated on stage.
Sunday morning included a lively jam session and a delicious morning tea, this concluded the event.
Many
thanks to our 5 members who attended this event and for our overnight accommodation at a nearby Airbnb residence which was tops.

An older lady decided to give herself a big treat for her 70th birthday by staying overnight in a really nice hotel.
When she checked
out the next morning, the desk clerk handed her a bill for $250.00. She demanded to know why the charge was so high.
"I agree it's a nice hotel, but the rooms aren't worth $250.00 for just an overnight stay! I didn't even have breakfast."
